Jesus and the Lamb

Listen to the words of Isaiah 40:11:

He tends his flock like a shepherd:
He gathers the lambs in his arms
and carries them close to his heart.

This simple drawing by American artist Katherine Brown is a perfect illustration of a God who draws us in and carries us close. Notice the scar on the hand of Jesus. A reminder that God’s grace cost us nothing but cost God everything. It seems as if the little lamb is almost smiling, content and at peace. Imagine how safe it must feel wrapped in the arms of someone who loves it so much.

Being Human connection: In your prayer time today, bring this visual to mind. Ask God to wrap is arms around you; to pull you close to his heart. Sit still in his presence and feel his love envelope you. Imagine Jesus burying his face into the nape of your neck as he pulls you in. You are safe. You are loved. Let go of worry and fear and be blessed by the presence of God.
